Unlike mothers, fathers show their love to their children in a sterner way. As breadwinners, most fathers opt to share their love and care by providing everything they can for their family. During this time of crisis and uncertainty, fathers strive even harder to provide for their families—often having side hustles to make ends meet.
In the Boardwalk HQ, everyone knows Sir Mike. He’s a friendly face from the IT Department, a cheerful colleague everyone knows of. Even before the quarantine, Mike has already been a full-time entrepreneur and community seller. But above all of these achievements, Sir Mike is first and foremost a father to one.
As a family guy, Mike shares that the disruption caused by COVID-19 made him act quickly on how to continue supporting his family. “May pamilya akong kailangan suportahan, so sa mga panahon ngayon kailangan talagang maging madiskarte,” Mike shares.
Prior to the pandemic, he side-hustles as a financial advisor. Now, he is a proud Boardwalk Community Reseller and even sells dried fish on the side! (Super bet namin ang kanyang bestseller na dilis at tuyo!) From posting the products online to delivering to customers, Mike covers all bases as a community seller. “Ang mga market ko ay ang mga KKK – kamag anak, kaibigan, kakilala,” he smiles.
“With COVID-19, ang priority at concern ng market ko ay kung paano nila mapoprotektahan ang sarili nila at ang pamilya nila. Kaya very relevant and timely ang Boardwalk New Normal Collection. Karamihan sa market ngayon gusto ung mga portable and protective items para iwas virus,” Mike shares.

The profit Mike makes from community selling goes a long way. Aside from providing for his family, Mike also allocates funds for their family savings and in an insurance-with-investment account. Mike shares that he’s saving up capital for a new project coming soon.
When asked if he would recommend being a community reseller to others, Mike enthusiastically recommends it. “Oo naman! Malaking tulong ang pagiging community seller sa mga taong gustong umasenso at kumita. Basta dedicated at gusto nila maging seller, kayang-kaya nila yan.”
“As seller, dapat marami kang baon or ipong PASENSYA. Ma-tetest talaga ang pagiging ma-pasensyoso mo sa community selling. At the same time, enjoy-in mo lang. If may umayaw na isa, huwag magtataning ng sama ng loob, move on sa ibang customer.” he hints at aspiring community resellers.
